The Regulatory Timeline is available on the Business plan and above.
The regulatory timeline gives your organization a consolidated view of AI regulation milestones and your progress toward each one. Rather than tracking deadlines in a separate spreadsheet, you manage compliance status, assign owners, and monitor approaching dates from within your governance workspace.

What the timeline shows

The timeline displays a list of regulatory milestones organized by regulation and effective date. Each milestone shows:
  • The regulation it belongs to
  • A plain-language description of what the milestone requires
  • Your current compliance status
  • The owner assigned to the milestone
  • The target completion date (if set)
  • Days remaining until the deadline

Pre-loaded regulations

The timeline comes pre-loaded with milestones from three frameworks:
  • EU AI Act — phased implementation milestones from the initial prohibited systems ban through the full high-risk system requirements
  • Colorado AI Act — developer and deployer obligations and effective dates
  • NIST AI RMF — key adoption guidance milestones and voluntary commitments
Milestones are updated as regulations are amended or clarified. You do not need to maintain the regulation content manually.

Auto-applicability

When you set your operating jurisdictions, Ayliea cross-references your jurisdictions and the AI systems in your registry against each regulation’s applicability criteria. Regulations that are likely to apply to your organization are highlighted automatically. Auto-applicability is a suggestion — you review and confirm which regulations apply. Confirmed regulations appear in your active timeline; dismissed regulations are hidden but remain accessible if your situation changes.

Setting your operating jurisdictions

To configure your jurisdictions:
  1. Navigate to Governance → Regulatory Timeline and select Settings
  2. Add the countries and US states where your organization operates or deploys AI systems
  3. Save your changes — auto-applicability runs immediately and updates the timeline

Tracking compliance status

Each milestone has a compliance status you update as your organization works toward the requirement:
StatusMeaning
Not startedNo work has begun on this milestone
In progressActive work is underway
CompliantThe requirement is fully met
Non-compliantThe deadline has passed and the requirement is not met
Status updates are recorded in the milestone history so you have a record of when compliance was achieved.

Assigning owners and target dates

Each milestone can be assigned to a specific team member and given a target completion date. Assigned owners can see their open milestones from their Governance dashboard view, making it easy for compliance and legal team members to track their responsibilities without navigating the full timeline.

Countdown alerts

The Governance dashboard surfaces upcoming regulatory deadlines as countdown cards. By default, milestones due within 90 days appear as alerts. Milestones due within 30 days are highlighted to draw immediate attention.
Assign owners to all active milestones as soon as you confirm which regulations apply. Unassigned milestones have no single accountable party and are more likely to be missed as deadlines approach.
